Interactive Media
Interactive Media Manual WebsiteOur first real project for Interactive Media was this site. It was a great team building experience due to the multitude of issues that came with it, caused mostly by the ever unstable weather of Louisiana. I worked with Connor Loya and Edward Barranco to put up the content of the website, along with doing odd jobs for other groups if they needed help. Looking back on it, it's not the prettiest, but it gets its job done and stands as a marker for our very first team project.

Battle On The River ProjectOur second project for Interactive Media, we worked with the St. Charles Parish P.R. Department along with Press Play Productions to bring the game to anyone with internet and a computer. I worked mainly on website layout and functionality, but played minor roles in practically everything relating to the website. When it came to the game, I was in charge of analytics, along with David Broussard. I also played minor roles in keeping the livestream up and photo picking. Looking back, I find issues with the way things on the website were organized, which is partially my fault. I feel as though we grew closer as Interactive Media due to both A.M. and P.M. classes working on it.

What Are Your Options ProjectOur third project for Interactive Media. We kicked off this assignment by doing research into the schools that we wanted to go to after high school. Following that, we analyzed the issues that the average student might have when trying to find the information we had gathered. From there we brain-stormed ideas for how we might create something to assist students with attaining that information. We then split off into groups and got to work. My group and I elected to create an app that gives information about a large variety of career paths. We originally based our career organization on St. Charles Parish's 5 Jumpstart Pathways, but after visiting with 2 Journey To Careers classes to test our, we learned that they are still being taught the 16 Career Clusters, which made us go back and re-evaluate the entire way we organized our app. In the end, we got a functional, informative app built, and we intend to come back to it at a later date to pretty it up a bit.

Once Upon A TimeThe fourth major project of Interactive Media. We worked with R.K. Smith, a local middle-school, to create digital backdrops that would be rear-projected for a set of plays they were doing. This project was interrupted by our 2 week long winter break, which really threw a wrench into the system. We got it done, though, and the show went off brilliantly. This project gave a harsh lesson in time management and taught that just because school stops, doesn't mean work has to.

20 PercentAh, this wonderful mess of a project. There isn't much to say here. It was inspired by Google's 20% project which was a passion project to allow employees to do what they want and produce something they'd like to. I, however, have eyes too big for my stomach. I bit off way more than I could chew, deciding to make a game from scratch, including music, graphics, gameplay, and story. With the 7 week timespan we had, this was a monumental task, even with all of the cuts I made. This taught me a lot about being realistic when it comes to projects and timeframes.
